Change the installed backup account

Caution ! The account name encoding is specific to this configuration file : > must be replaced by - and - by -- (double dash). For instance, the account reseller>customer>workstation-1 would become reseller-customer-workstation--1. Please take that into consideration while following the below procedure.

Using Windows

1. Stop the service

Stop the service "Arx One Backup" via the services console (services.msc from the start menu).

2. Modify the preferences

Edit the C:\ProgramData\ArxOne\Backup\BackupAgent.conf file. Replace the name of the installed account with the one you want to use in the line beginning by the Account: keyword.

Rename the ProtectedPassword: keyword to Password: and type the unencrypted account password unencrypted. When the service will be restarted, the password will be encrypted again.

3. Restart the service

Start the service "Arx One Backup", via the system services console (services.msc from the start menu).

Using Linux

1. Stop the service

In the terminal, type: service arxone-backup stop

2. Modify the preferences

Edit the /usr/local/etc/arx.one/backup/backupagent.conf file. Replace the name of the installed account with the one you want to use in the line beginning by the Account: keyword.

Rename the ProtectedPassword: keyword to Password: and type the unencrypted account password unencrypted. When the service will be restarted, the password will be encrypted again.

3. Restart the service

In the terminal, type: service arxone-backup start

Using Synology DSM

1. Stop the service

Within the NAS package center, go to the installed package and stop Arx One Backup.

2. Modify the preferences

Enable the SSH service from the NAS control panel.

Using a SSH client, edit the /usr/local/etc/arx.one/backup/backupagent.conf file. Replace the name of the installed account with the one you want to use in the line beginning by the Account: keyword.

Rename the ProtectedPassword: keyword to Password: and type the unencrypted account password unencrypted. When the service will be restarted, the password will be encrypted again.

Don't forget to disable the SSH service if you no longer need it.

3. Restart the service

Start the service "Arx One Backup", via the NAS package center.
